Flowerpots and Cigarettes Don't Mix!

November 2 2022

Planters can add a significant amount of colour and enjoyment during the summer to any resident or business property. When the plants are finished for the season, the planter will become very dry. Often people don’t think about the hazards that exists if disposing a cigarette into a dry planter. Materials such as peat moss, vermiculite and styrofoam pellets become very flammable when they are dry. Some planters will ignite quickly, while others smolders for hours or even days before finally igniting causing serious damage to property. Please only use designated outdoor cigarette waste containers that are designed to not catch fire. Planters are not for cigarette disposal at any time of the year!
