Public Service Announcement - Environmental Impacts in Thorsby

September 24 2025

Big changes are coming to the Waste, Recycling, and NEW Organics program in Thorsby! To learn more about these changes, read here.

Did you know?
The Town of Thorsby has about 435 properties currently receiving collection services, 403 of those being residential!

  • For an average family of four in a household, they would produce around 2 tons of waste annually.
  • For a two-person household, they would produce around 1 ton of waste annually.
  • A food service building with an average of 5 employees produces around 14 tons of waste annually.

Participating in organics and recycling diversion from waste can reduce the average household's garbage by possibly up to 50%!

While these seem like small tonnage amounts, every bit of waste that we can divert into recycling and organics helps keep our communities, our country, and our planet a cleaner and more sustainable place to live!
