February 19 2014
Thorsby, Alberta: Following a recruitment search, the Village of Thorsby announced the hiring of Jason Gariepy as the municipality’s new CAO.

Gariepy brings over a decade of senior public sector experience to the position, having worked for large and small Alberta municipalities as well as the provincial government. His experience is supported by a graduate degree in communications and technology as well as his current studies towards a Master of Public Administration at the University of Victoria, where his thesis is on performance metrics for municipalities. Gariepy is also an instructor at MacEwan University.

“Jason Gariepy is committed to ensuring the municipality runs efficiently. His goal is to bring new housing, commercial, and industrial development to the community so Thorsby remains an affordable, healthy, and attractive community to call home and to do business with,” says Mayor Barry Rasch.

“I fell in love with Thorsby,” says Gariepy. “The community has outstanding recreational facilities, excellent schools, and many high quality services. I am looking forward to working with Council on its priorities, building a strong administrative team, and, most importantly, getting to know the community.”

Gariepy is married to Monica and has two children. “My family is looking forward to calling Thorsby home,” he says.
