Thorsby Fire District Update
New fire management team in place
Thorsby, Alberta: Leduc County reports the volunteer firefighting recruitment drive is generating success in the Thorsby Fire District. A Fire Management team is in place with a District Fire Chief and two Captains. Six experienced members are now available to respond. Three new recruits are in the application stage and will be available to respond after a short orientation and recruit training second week in April.
As of March 25, responding Thorsby District members were issued portable radios and pagers. The fire district will be in a position to answer emergency calls via Parkland ECC during evening and weekends. These members will be assigned standby on a rotation schedule until more members are recruited. Thorsby will continue to receive response support from the Calmar & Warburg Districts, County of Wetaskiwin, and Mulhurst Fire Department.
