Medical Services Attraction Update
Posted on Thursday October 31, 2019 at 01:05PM
Earlier this year, following consultation through the Rural Health Profession Action Plan, Thorsby Council formed a Medical Attraction and Retention Committee and which through conversations with representatives from Warburg, was quickly expanded to become the Thorsby Warburg Medical Attraction and Retention Committee with the goal of exploring the opportunities to jointly bring addition medical services/options to both communities.
Through various discussions with Rural Health Profession Action Plan staff and Primary Care Network and other health professionals in the area, we now share the exciting news that PCN successfully applied for funding for a full time position for a Nurse Practitioner to be shared between Thorsby and Warburg.
It is hoped that we may also be successful in bringing a doctor to the community initially on a part time basis; that portion is close but not quite finalized. We are also grateful to the local pharmacies in both Thorsby and Warburg who have offered space to help bring these services to our communities. It is hoped we will see the benefits of this work early in 2020.
The position for the Nurse Practitioner is now being advertised (see below), so please share with qualified interested parties that you may know to make it a reality for Thorsby and Warburg as soon as possible.
