Survey Results are in  – Celebrations return to May Long Weekend

A big thank you to the 97 respondents in our recent Community Events Survey, your input was fantastic and much appreciated.

Demographics of respondents
It was pretty amazing to see we had such a good spread of responses from both the town and surrounding area residents and also a great spread across age groups. It was also positive to see that while many had long standing connections to the community, there were also quite a few new people added to the Thorsby family too.
Some things highlighted by the survey were very clear on some community preferences;

May Long Weekend
We heard very clearly what you had to say about when you would like our key event and as a result we will be returning the town organized event (known as Thunder days for the last two years) back to the Saturday of the May long weekend and it will also move back to the Recreation Complex.  May 18th will be a fun filled day for all in Thorsby, so watch for details in the coming weeks and don’t forget to dust off your cowboy boots for the Rodeo in the evening at the Haymakers.

Other events
There was also a clear preference for events to be continued to be hosted on Hankin Street, so June 8 will see Ride for Dad return and Christmas in the Village received the highest rating on events attended in Thorsby with an outstanding 80 out of the 97 respondents. Family and Teen events were the top two areas that you indicated you would like to see more events for, although overall you indicated we had the right number of events.

Communication
The Thorsby Target is your favourite way to find out about events, followed closely by the Town Facebook page and the communication questions also helped to highlight some event notifications that need a little push to get the word out there.
Thanks once again to everyone who took part.
