Media release: Thorsby Alberta Traffic Safety Fund Successl
The Town of Thorsby received confirmation of their success is securing a $17,000 grant from the Alberta Traffic Safety fund. The funds will be used to focus on road safety initiatives in and around our school zone, and to provide education and awareness for pedestrians, cyclists and drivers alike.
The program will also incorporate a bike rodeo in late spring and a series of targeted radio messages to coincide with the restart of school following the summer break, and promotional literature to be distributed promoting road safety.
The Town is also working with Alberta Transportation to reduce the speed to 30 k.p.h. on a section of Hwy 778 (52 Street) in the area of the school and also for upgrade and replacement of crosswalk which is slated to take place in the spring.
