Thorsby GOAL ZERO Program Launch

The Town of Thorsby is the FIRST community in Alberta to partner with Swirltex on a lagoon water treatment and re-use collaboration.  While Thorsby currently meets both provincial and federal environmental regulations on water discharge quality, this water re-use straegy will help miniize potential environmental impacts of a lagoon discharge on fish bearing waters.  I n addition, the project will reduce the volume of fresh water diverted from Alberta watersheds for industrial purposes in an effort to conserve drinking water sources for future generations.

Swirltex will deploy its mobile ultrafiltration technology to treat the lagoon's wastewater and the Swirltex team will assist Thorsby in finding water re-use partners and customers.

Jointly, we hope to challenge residents and entrepreneurs through the GOAL ZERO Program: to bring forward additional ideas for use of the treated nutrient rich wastewater.  We will hold community engagement meetings to present the technology's benefits and risks, to make sure all ideas and opportunities are heard, and to address any concerns with the project.

With the combination of revenue generation, environmental stewardship, and community engagement, the GOAL ZERO Program has the potential to be transformative for the Town of Thorsby!
