Water Update - September 27
Work on installation of the additional diffuser aeration has now been completed. A “soft start-up” will now take place which means the compressors will be slowly turned on over a period of time, to make sure that the water does not go through what is referred to as a turn-over event, causing the nutrients to "flip" and which causes release of all nutrients, sediment and total loss of oxygen. It is possible, but unlikely, that taste and odour may be slightly impacted ...
Water Update - Sept 20
Work has commenced this week on the installation of the diffuser aeration system as the raw water ponds. The wet weather has impacted the installation by a few days, but it is hoped the work will be completed by the start of next week. The installation will permit the diffusion aeration to work on increasing and maintaining the oxygenation of the ponds over the coming months, and ultimately ensure full cycle and reduction of the nutrients and bacteria impacting the health of water body.

Water Update - Sept 13
Our update this week, includes the news that work on the increased aeration for the raw water ponds will be commencing next week. Council approved the amendement to Capital Budget at the last regular meeting of Council. The decrease in temperatures should continue to improve the taste and odour issues, and the increased oxygenation activity over the fall and winter will facilitate a return to a healthier raw water storage body. WATER UPDATE - Sept 6
Last week we advised of the findings of the raw water pond study, and the recommendation to introduce diffuser type aeration at the bottom of the pond, rather than on the surface. This type of aeration is also designed to keep the surface of the ponds open over the winter months to enable ongoing completion of nutrient and bacteria lifecycle and to restore balance to the ponds.
